Burlington Weaves its Legacy for a More Sustainable Future

China platform recognized as a model facility

Greensboro, NC – Sustainability is the standard. We accept it; we embrace it.  Burlington is excited about the ways we are accomplishing sustainability milestones within our company. Leading these efforts is Burlington’s Jiaxing Burlington Textile facility (JBT), a bluesign® certified facility that also achieved the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification. JBT has completed the Higg Index 3.0 certification, was recognized as a model facility by the Jiaxing City Economic Development Zone and was awarded the first Star Enterprise in Jiaxing for both environmental responsibility and hygiene performance.

Burlington fosters a continuous improvement culture centered around energy, water reduction and reuse. JBT has reduced Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and consistently reduces utility usage on a per unit of production basis year over year. JBT also uses an Ultra-Filtration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) system that is the first of its kind within the Zhejiang province and allows for 30%-40% of the plants water demand to be recycled.

“We believe repurposing waste is a way for us to do our part to make sure future generations have more opportunities for a healthy environment,” says Nelson Bebo, Vice President Technical Sales Development for Burlington. “Going forward, every new development in our Enthusiast Collection will have at least 30 percent recycled content. Our commitment pushes the limits of our core competencies in fabric and technology innovations, shifting the focus on reducing our environmental footprint and impact.”

The Restora™ collection, featuring eco-conscious fabrics made from a range of innovative and industry leading recycled content. New sustainability partners Eco Circle™ and Seaqual™ are added to long-standing sustainability partners REPREVE® and THREAD™ to offer customers a broad range of renewable materials.
